Using simple properties of a hyperplanelike divisor in a smooth compact complex manifold and its resolution the authors prove that the main result from the paper [\textit{H. Esnault}, the first author and \textit{E. Viehweg}, Invent. Math. 109, No. 3, 557-561 (1992); Erratum 112, 447 (1993; Zbl 0788.32005)] remains still valid if certain ``Aomoto non-resonance conditions'' for monodromy are fulfilled on the set consisting of all dense edges of the divisor. In fact, this set is strictly contained in the test set of the original theorem from (loc. cit.). Clear applications in the case of discriminantal arrangements in \(P^1 \times \cdots \times P^1\) and for one-dimensional local systems related with Knizhnik-Zamolodchikov differential equations [see the first and the third author, Invent. Math. 106, No. 1, 139-194 (1991; Zbl 0754.17024)] are considered in detail.
