Stress and the moment-twist relation in the torsion of a cylinder with a nonconvex stored energy function (Q1897693)

The stress distribution in the torsion problem for a nonconvex stored energy function is investigated. It is shown that the energy minimizer exists only if the applied angle of twist is small, and the relationship is established between the torsional moment and the angle of twist for the minimizing sequence.
