Authors investigate the elasticity problem of anisotropic and inhomogeneous plates without the usual assumptions. Especially, they consider a laminated plate with transverse isotropies, including in this way a reinforcement by fibers. The method employed is a transfer matrix technique for the integration with respect to the thickness coordinate of the basic equations of elasticity for a thick elastic layer proposed by the reviewer in [Ingenieur-Arch. 41, 278-290 (1972; Zbl 0231.73023)]. Authors introduce two characteristic parameters, namely a geometric one (\(\varepsilon\) for the relative thickness) and a material one (\(\delta\) for the relative stiffness). The integration with respect to the in-plane coordinates is performed using a series expansion in \(\delta\). As an illustration of this powerful method, a cross-ply symmetric laminate is analyzed.
