A system of hyperbolic conservation laws with frictional damping (Q1897701)

For a Cauchy problem concerning a system of two partial differential equations, admissible weak solutions in the space BV of functions of bounded variation are constructed. So far, BV solutions have been constructed only in some particular cases by \textit{M. Luskin} and \textit{B. Temple} [Commun. Pure Appl. Math. 35, 697-735 (1982; Zbl 0489.35054).] The large time behavior of admissible BV solution is investigated by the author in [J. Differ. Equations 121, 183-202 (1995; see the preceding review)].
