    Let \(L^p_{\upsilon(\gamma)}\) be the \(L^p\) space on \((0, \infty)\) with weight \(x^\gamma\) (the weight is not raised to the \(p\)th power in the norm); \(\{l^\gamma_k= c_k e^{- x/2} L^\gamma_k\}\) the associated Laguerre system forming a basis in \(L^2_{\upsilon(\gamma)}\). Fractional integral operators are defined by considering Fourier expansions: \[ f(x)\sim \sum^\infty_{k= 0} a_k l^\gamma_k(x) \] and forming the series \[ I_\sigma f(x)\sim \sum^\infty_{k= 0} (k+ 1)^{-\sigma} a_k l^\gamma_k(x). \] This integral operator can be considered as a twisted convolution of \(f\) with \[ g_\sigma(x)\sim \Gamma(\alpha+ 1) \sum^\infty_{k= 0} (k+ 1)^{-\sigma} l^\gamma_k(x), \] which allows the authors to deduce from general convolution theorems a boundedness estimate \[ |I_\sigma f|_{L^q_{\upsilon(\alpha- bq)}}\leq C|f|_{L^p_{\upsilon(\alpha+ ap)}}, \] where \(1/q= 1/p- (\sigma- a- b)/(\alpha+ 1)\), \(0< \sigma< \alpha+ 1\), \(a< (\alpha+ 1)/p'\), \(b< (\alpha+ 1)/q\), \(a+ b\geq 0\). This and similar estimates are related to \(M^{p, q}\)-Laguerre multipliers; the connection is explored in some detail in the paper.
