The author considers the discrete logistic model with or without delay \(x_{n + 1} = \alpha_n x_n/(1 + \beta_n x_{n - j})\), for \(n = 0,1,2, \dots\), and \(j \geq 0\), where \(\alpha_n\) and \(\beta_n\) are positive bounded sequences. The oscillatory and asymptotic behavior is completely discussed in the case without delay, this is \(j = 0\). Results in this case are parallel to those for the continuous logistic model given by \textit{Q. Kong} and \textit{H. I. Freedman} [Far-East J. Math. Sci. 1, No. 1, 35-43 (1993; Zbl 0794.92016)]. For the case \(j > 0\), some results on the oscillation behavior are obtained. The above model generalizes a logistic model introduced by \textit{E. C. Pielou} [An introduction to mathematical ecology (1969; Zbl 0259.92001)].
