Let \(G\) be a group, \(H\) a subgroup of \(G\). Two subsets \(H_1\), \(H_2\) are strongly fused in \(H\) with respect to \(G\) if they are conjugate in \(G\) and, whenever \(x \in G\) satisfies \(H^x_1 = H_2\), there are \(y \in H\) and \(c \in C_G (H_1)\) such that \(x = cy\). The author considers the conjugacy result for subsets of the Lie group \(G_2(\mathbb{C})\). Consider \(G_2(\mathbb{C})\) as a subgroup of \(O(7,\mathbb{C})\) and let \(V\) be the natural 7-dimensional module for \(O(7,\mathbb{C})\). Theorem 1. \(G_2 (\mathbb{C})\) strongly controls fusion of its subsets with respect to \(\text{GL} (V)\). -- A \(p\)-local subgroup of a group is the normalizer of a nontrivial \(p\)-subgroup (\(p\) prime). A local subgroup is a \(p\)-local subgroup for some \(p\). -- Theorem 2. A finite subgroup of \(G_2(\mathbb{C})\) lies in a local subgroup or is irreducible on the 7-dimensional module. - - Theorem 3. Consider a natural containment \(F \leq H\) where \(F\) has type \(F_4\) and \(H\) is simply connected of type \(E_6\). Then \(F\) strongly controls fusion of its subsets with respect to \(H\).
