An operator \(A\) on a Banach space \(X\) is paranormal if \(|Ax |^2\leq |A^2 x||x|\) for any \(x\) in the domain of \(A^2\). In this paper, it is proved that if \(X\) is a Banach space continuously and densely embedded into another Banach space \(Y\) and \(A\) is a bounded operator on \(X\) which is paranormal in \(Y\), then \(A\) has an extension to a bounded operator \(B\) in \(Y\) with the property \(|B|= r(B)\leq r(A)\leq |A|\), where \(r(\cdot)\) denotes the spectral radius. This generalizes a result of M. Krein and P. Lax for symmetric \(A\).
