The author considers a method to construct functional sequences which are used for generalized summation of series. Let \(f\in L_1(-\pi,\pi)\) and (*) \(f(x)\sim a_0/2+ \sum^\infty_{n=1} a_n \cos nx+b_n\sin nx\) be the Fourier series of this function. Let \(\varphi_n (r)=\varphi(nr)=\int^a_0g(t)\cos nrt dt\) be a summarizing sequence, where \(a=1\) or \(a=\infty\), \(g:[0,a] \to\mathbb{R}\) be a continuous function satisfying some additional conditions and \(S(r,x)= a_0/2+ \sum^\infty_{n=1} \varphi_n(r)\) \((a_n \cos nx+b_n\sin nx)\). The following is the main result of this paper. Theorem 1. The Fourier series (*) of the function \(f\in L_1(-\pi,\pi)\) is summable by the sequence \((\varphi_n(r)): \lim_{r\to 0}s(r,x) =f(x)\) at the point of continuity and \(\lim_{r\to 0} s(r,x)= 1/2(f(x+0) +f(x-0))\) at the point of discontinuity of the first kind.
