Defined on a compact metric space \(X\) an Anosov map \(f: X\to X\) is a continuous surjective selfmap which possesses the local product structure. It was shown by the author [ibid. 36, No. 23, 1948-1952 (1991; Zbl 0765.58026)] that an Anosov map is equivalent to an expansive selfmap which has the pseudo-orbit tracing property. About the period and the periodic points of the Anosov map \(f\) it was known [\textit{K. Sakai}, J. Math. Soc. Japan 39, 505-519 (1987; Zbl 0647.58039)] that \(N_n(f)< +\infty\) and \(\text{cl}(P(f)) =\Omega(f)\), where \(P(\bullet)\), \(\Omega(\bullet)\), and \(N_n(\bullet)\) indicate the periodic point set, nonwandering point set and the \(n\)-period number, respectively. In the present letter a result is announced from which one can bound the \(n\)-periodic number by a power function and an exponential function.
