The article contains in fact a review of previous results of the authors regarding the sub-elliptic distances. Different characterizations of the sub-ellipticity, Hölder comparison between them, together with results on powers of differential operators by using Hörmander metric and the techniques of \(S(m, g)\) calculus are considered and largely discussed.
