An iterative method for solving linear systems arising from the kinetic theory and providing transport coefficients of dilute polyatomic gas mixtures is investigated. The corresponding linear systems are obtained in their naturally constrained, singular, and symmetric form, using the formalism of \textit{L. Waldmann} and \textit{E. Trübenbacher} [Z. Naturforsch. 17a, 363-376 (1962; Zbl 0105.22806)]. The transport coefficients associated with the systems obtained by \textit{L. Monchick} and \textit{E. A. Mason} [Phys. Fluids 28, 3341-3348 (1985 (1985; Zbl 0586.76198)]\ are also recovered, if one corrects two misprints in the work of these authors. Using the recent theory of the authors [Multicomponent transport algorithms, Lect. Notes Phys., New Ser. m: Monographs. m24, Springer, Berlin (1994; Zbl 0820.76002)], all the transport coefficients are expressed as convergent series. By truncating these series, new, accurate, approximate expressions are obtained for all the transport coefficients. Finally, the computational efficiency of the present transport algorithms in multicomponent flow applications is illustrated with several numerical experiments.
