The authors study numerical solution of polynomial equations such as (1) \(f(x) = 0\). These nonlinear equations arise in chemical engineering. For solving equations such as (1) the local Newton method is used. The authors prefer local to global methods because they are faster. The interval method is implemented for finding all the real roots of (1) within a specified domain. 15 test problems coming from different chemical engineering applications are solved in this paper. Round-off errors are also taken into account.
