The paper is concerned with abstract \(\mathbb{Z}_2 \times \mathbb{Z}_2\)-equivariant two parameter bifurcation problems of the type \[ f(x, \lambda, \mu) = 0,\;x \in X,\;\lambda, \mu \in \mathbb{R}. \tag{1} \] Various extended systems (which contain equation (1) and other equations defined by the partial derivative \(\partial_x f(x, \lambda, \mu))\) are introduced in order to compute so-called corank-2 and corank-3 symmetry breaking bifurcation points of (1) with respect to \(\lambda\) and to show that there exist exactly three (resp. at least one) pitchfork bifurcation point curves near such corank-2 (resp. corank-3) points.
