Let \(L= A\mathbb{Z}^3\) be a three-dimensional lattice with determinant \(d(L)= |\text{det } A|= |\text{det} (a_{ik}) |>0\) and consider the homogeneous minimum \(\mu (L)= \inf\{ |\prod^3_{i=1} \sum^3_{k=1} a_{ik} u_k |: (u_1, u_2, u_3)\in \mathbb{Z}^3 \setminus \{0, 0, 0\}\}\). Davenport determined the first and second maximum in the spectrum of values of \(\mu (L)\). Later \textit{H. P. F. Swinnerton-Dyer} [Acta. Arith. 18, 371-385 (1971; Zbl 0227.10019)]\ found a sequence of further isolated maxima. The authors study in detail the three-dimensional Klein polyhedral (a natural generalization of the two-dimensional Klein polygon which allows a geometric interpretation of the ordinary continued fraction algorithm) for the lattices associated with the first two Davenport maxima mentioned. They also comment on the deficiencies of the continued-fraction-like algorithm associated with the Klein polyhedral.
