The paper investigates the effects of deformation on the heat conduction. The model predicts an anisotropy in the thermal conductivity induced by the deformation. In order to make contact with experiments, the authors specialize their description to the case of a polymeric material in a uniaxial elongational flow with available measurements of anisotropic thermal conductivity. It is shown that the thermal conductivity in elongational flows may become highly anisotropic, with this anisotropy increasing with the extension ratio.
