Let us consider the unit sphere \(S^2\), given by the equation \(x^2+y^2+z^2=1\), as a two-dimensional manifold equipped with the symplectic form \(\Omega=x dy \wedge dz+y dz \wedge dx+z dx \wedge dy\). The author investigates the class \({\mathfrak Q}\) of the functions on \(S^2\), which are at most quadratic in the coordinates \(x,y,z\). The aim of this paper is to find a standard form for Hamiltonians in \({\mathfrak Q}\), or more precisely, to give a classification of quadratic Hamiltonians on the unit sphere with respect to the following equivalence relation: Two Hamiltonians are equivalent if they induce the same phase portrait, i.e. if the trajectories of their hamiltonian vector fields can be mapped onto each other by symplectic mapping. The author has obtained six standard forms of quadratic Hamiltonians on \(S^2\), for example: \(H_1 (x,y,z)=0\), \(H_2 (x,y,z)=z\), \(H_3 (x,y,z)={1 \over 2} x^2+Ax+Cz\).
