\(U\)-reachability and \(U\)-controllability of 2-D Roesser model (Q1905675)

The linear 2-D Roesser model with constant coefficients is considered. Using the general response formula and algebraic methods, necessary and sufficient conditions for reachability and controllability with nonnegative controls are formulated and proved. Moreover, it is shown, that generally constrained reachability implies constrained controllability, and however, the reverse statement is not always true. Remarks and comments on constrained controllability and constrained reachability for 2-D linear systems are presented. Finally, two simple numerical illustrative examples are given. The results are generalizations for constrained controls of previous reachability and controllability results known in the literature for unconstrained controls (see e.g. [\textit{J. Klamka}, ``Controllability of dynamical systems'', Kluwer Academic Publishers, Dordrecht, (1991; Zbl 0732.93008)] and [\textit{J. Klamka}, ``\(M\)-dimensional nonstationary linear discrete systems in Banach spaces'', Proceedings 12th World IMACS Congress, Paris, Vol. 4, 31-33 (1988)]).
