Let \(E\) be a compact subset of the unit circle \(\mathbb{T}\) which satisfies the Carlson condition (i.e., \(\sum m(J_n)\log {1\over m(J_n)}< \infty\), where \(J_n\)'s are connected components of \(\mathbb{T}\backslash E\) and \(m\) stands for the normalized Lebesgue measure on \(\mathbb{T}\)). The author introduces a space \(H^2_E\) and shows that if a subset \(\mathcal B\) of \(L^2_a(\mathbb{D})\) satisfies the condition that for each \(f\in {\mathcal B}\) there exists a bounded analytic function \(\phi\) such that \(\phi f\in H^2_E\), then the invariant subspace generated by \(\mathcal B\) has the codimension-1 property.
