Let \((G,+)\) be a finite group. By \(M(G)\) we denote the nearring of all mappings from \(G\) into itself under pointwise addition and composition of functions. Let \(\sigma,\tau\in M(G)\). For each \(a\in G\) we define \(f_a(x)=x\sigma+a\tau\). By the syntactic nearring \(N(\sigma,\tau)\) on \(G\) we shall mean the subnearring of \(N(G)\) generated by the subset \(\{f_a;\;a\in G\}\cup\text{id}_G\). The author considers the syntactic nearrings on the dihedral groups \(D_n=\langle a,b;\;na=2b=0\), \(a+b=b-a\rangle\) of order \(2n\). He generalizes the results of \textit{Y. Fong}, \textit{W.-F. Ke} and \textit{C. S. Wang} [Near-rings and Near-fields, Proc. Conf. 1993, Math. Appl., Dordr. 336, 133-139 (1995)] to \(D_n\).
