      Let \(\ell_n[f]\equiv (\cdots((p_n f^{(n)})'- p_{n- 1} f^{(n- 1)})'-\cdots- p_1 f')'- p_0 f\) be a symmetric quasidifferential expression with real coefficients which are such that \(p_0, p_1,\dots, p_{n- 1}\), \({1\over p_n} \varepsilon L^1_{\text{loc}}(0, \infty)\). A number of criteria are obtained which are sufficient for the equation \(\ell_n[f]= 0\) to have a solution which is not in \(L^p(0, \infty)\), \(1\leq p\leq \infty\). Some of the results are analogues of well-known criteria for the limit-point condition to hold in \(L^2(0, \infty)\).
