      The author investigates the equation \[ \sum^n_{i = 1} a_i x_i (1 - x_i) {\partial^2 u \over \partial x_i^2} - \sum^n_{{i,j = 1 \atop i \neq j}} b_{ij} x_i x_j {\partial^2u \over \partial x_i \partial x_j} + \sum^n_{i = 1} (\alpha_i x_i + \beta_i) {\partial u \over \partial x_i} + \gamma u = 0 \] that is analogous to the hypergeometric equation. He gives a certain integral representation of the solutions for \(n = 2\).
