A survey of the results of this paper has been published in \textit{V. S. Guliev} [Sov. Math., Dokl. 43, 58-62 (1991); translation from Dokl. Akad. Nauk SSSR 316, 274-278 (1991; Zbl 0767.42005)]. -- The author studies singular integral operators \(T\) on the Heisenberg group \({\mathcal H}^n\) which have an essentially different character in comparison with operators of Calderón-Zygmund type (in particular, they have a distinctive anisotropy). The action of these operators is studied in function spaces satisfying certain generalized Hölder conditions and certain growth requirements. Some results of the paper are analogs of those for Calderón-Zygmund operators, or for the anisotropic case. The author also investigates weighted estimates, especially estimates in weighted \(L^p\)-norms. He obtains estimates that connect the characteristics of the original function \(u\) with those of the transformed function \(v= Tu\). Further he characterizes subspaces invariant under the action of \(T\).
