So-called Bessel models were studied for holomorphic Siegel modular forms of degree 2 as a replacement for Whittaker models. If an automorphic form for the adelic symplectic group possesses such a Bessel model of a special type, it was demonstrated that it can be related to a generic form, which has a Whittaker model. In the paper under review, the author shows that this procedure is not always successful. He constructs Siegel modular forms of degree and weight 2 which do not have a Bessel model of special type.
