    The Bogolyubov-Mitropol'lskij asymptotic analytic method is extended to the second order equation \[ m(\tau) \ddot z+ k(\tau)z+ k_1 (\tau) zi+ c(\tau) \dot z+ c_1 (\tau) \dot zi= \varepsilon f(z, \dot, z, \overline {z}, \dot {\overline z}, \tau), \] in which \(z= z(t)\) is a complex-valued function, \(t\) is time, \(\tau= \varepsilon t\) with a small positive constant \(\varepsilon\) and \(f\) is a small nonlinear perturbation function. For vibrations of a rotor on which a thin band is wound and a small linear damping acts, the analytic results are compared with numerical ones.
