A lubricant in placed between two circular discs, of which the upper one contains small pores. Then the shear flow of the lubricant is considered on the assumption of no-slip condition, and also with a constant slip condition. It is assumed that there is no variation of pressure across the fluid film, no external forced in the film, no fluid inertia compared to viscous shear stresses, and the lubricant is Newtonian. The porous medium has constant properties with these assumptions, Navier-Stokes equations, continuity equation and Darcy law are written, and the corresponding Brinkman equations are solved. The results on the modified Reynolds number, film pressure, time-height relation, load capacity, etc. are obtained analytically, and calculations are performed for some numerical values of parameters. The results are also plotted in graphs and are compared with experimental results, showing a good agreement. The paper is surely a good contribution to the existing literature on the subject.
