The authors consider the problem of uniform asymptotic stability for a class of delay differential equations, where the most recent past does not affect the evolution of the system. They call them delay differential equations with amnesia. The authors introduce the following definition: A delay differential equation with amnesia is an equation of the form \(\dot x(t)= f(t, x_{t,(\sigma, r)})\), where \(0< \sigma\leq r\), \(x_{t, (\sigma, r)}\) is the function defined by \(x_{t,(\sigma, r)}(s)= x(t+ s)\), \(s\in [- r, -\sigma]\), \(C_{\sigma, r}\) is the set of all continuous functions \(\varphi: [- r, -\sigma]\to \mathbb{R}\) endowed with the sup-norm \(|\cdot|_{\sigma, r}\) and \(f\) is a real valued function defined on \(\mathbb{R}_+\times W\) (\(W\) is an open subset of \(C_{\sigma, r}\)). To the reviewer's knowledge this is the first paper, where an equation of such a type is investigated explicitly. The main result of the authors provides not only a uniform asymptotic stability criterion but also information on the region of uniform attraction of the zero solution.
