The author discusses the controllability in \(L^2(\Omega)\) of the semilinear heat equation with nonlinearity in \(u\) and \(\nabla u\). He approaches the semilinear problem as a disturbed version of the linear case which possesses a desirable controllability property and studies the asymptotic behavior in vanishing time. In particular, the static distributed and time-dependent lumped controls are studied.
