Sample paths of a geodesic random walk on Teichmüller space are shown to converge in the Thurston compactification. The technique of the proof is based on using train tracks and matrix expansions of measured foliations. Another approach to the problem is given in the joint paper by the author and the reviewer [Invent. Math. 125, 221-264 (1996)].
