A cap on a quadric or for a symplectic polarity is a set of pairwise perpendicular points (with respect to the corresponding form). Complete caps are caps that are not contained in any other cap. A complete cap containing a point of every maximal singular space is an ovoid. In the paper under review, the author constructs explicitly caps for all quadrics over any finite field of characteristic 2. The caps are complete over \(GF (8)\). Also, these complete caps are (nontrivial) ovoids for the parabolic quadric in \(PG (4,8)\) and for the hyperbolic quadric in \(PG (7,8)\). Furthermore, in \(PG (8k + 3,8)\), \(PG (8k + 7,8)\) and \(PG (2k,8)\), the caps are of maximal size for respectively the elliptic, hyperbolic and parabolic quadrics.
