    We say that a continuous function \(\Phi : [0,1] \to [0,1]\) is a porosity index if \(\Phi\) is increasing and \(\Phi (0) = 0\). Let \(\Phi\) be a porosity index and \(E \subset \mathbb{R} \). We will write \(E \in R (\Phi)\) (and say that \(E\) is \((\Phi)\)-uniformly symmetrically porous) if for each \(n \in \mathbb{N}\) there are numbers \(0 < a_n < b_n < n^{-1}\) such that \(\Phi (b_n - a_n) > a_n\) and that \([x - b_n, x - a_n] \cup [x + a_n, x + b_n] \subset \mathbb{R} \backslash E\). Notice that if \(\Phi (x) = x^2\), then \((\Phi)\)-uniform symmetric porosity implies so-called strong symmetric porosity. The results: 1. Every linear perfect set contains a perfect \((\Phi)\)-uniformly symmetrically porous subset. 2. The set of all compact \((\Phi)\)-uniformly symmetrically porous sets in \([0,1]\) is a dense \(G_\delta\) subset of the space of all nonempty compact sets in \([0,1]\) endowed with the Hausdorff metric. 3. The set of all perfect \((\Phi)\)-uniformly symmetrically porous sets in \([0,1]\) is a dense \(G_\delta\) subset of the space of all nonempty perfect sets in \([0,1]\) endowed with the Hausdorff metric.
