The authors consider reflexive modules over algebras in the sense of their previous paper [Can. J. Math. 41, No. 4, 592-611 (1989; Zbl 0684.16020)]. Specifically, they address the problem of when direct sums of reflexive modules are reflexive. They show that this is the case for algebras termed locally left distributive, a class that includes the serial algebras, among others. On the other hand, reflexivity is not preserved by direct sums if the quiver of the algebra contains a triple arrow.
