2D orthogonal grid generation with boundary point distribution control (Q1913826)

A two-dimensional orthogonal grid generation with control of the boundary point distribution is presented. A system of partial differential equations which must be solved is built. The distortion function is calculated from its definition in the entire domain. The presented method allows the specification of the boundary point distribution and the distance of the first grid node to the boundary. Different ways of two-dimensional orthogonal grid generation are shown. An iterative algorithm of two-dimensional orthogonal grid generation is suggested. Questions of convergence to an orthogonal grid are considered. Examples of applications to different geometries are given. The results of calculations with detailed analysis are presented. The proposed method may be applied to several geometries and it may be widely used in some applications like, for example, viscous flows in computational fluid dynamics.
