The author discusses the Witt algebra \(L\) in two variables, with basis consisting of symbols \(e_i f_j\) with \(i,j \geq-1\) and Lie bracket \([e_i f_j, e_s f_t]= (s+ t- i- j)e_{i+ s} f_{j+ t}\). He points out some elements in \(L\wedge L\) which satisfy the classical Yang-Baxter equation, and thus give \(L\) structures as a coboundary Lie bialgebra. Thus \(L^0\) has corresponding structures as a Lie bialgebra [The author's reference for this is incorrect. See Proposition 3 of the reviewer, J. Pure Appl. Algebra 87, 301-312 (1993; Zbl 0786.17015)]. The author then claims to show that \(L^0\) consists of ``bivariate'' linearly recursive sequences. However, he never defines what sequences are intended. It is difficult to follow his arguments, but they are clearly based on ideas and notations of \textit{W. Nichols} for the one-variable case [J. Pure Appl. Algebra 68, 359-364 (1990; Zbl 0721.17023)] which is not listed among the references. Also not mentioned is the previously cited paper of the reviewer which discusses analogous Lie bialgebra structures on \(L\) for the one variable case as well as identifying linearly recursive sequences within \(L^0\), nor two papers of \textit{W. Michaelis} also discussing these ideas [Proc. XVII Int. Colloq. on Group-Theoretical Methods in Physics, 1988, Sainte-Adèle, Québec, Y. Saint-Aubin and L. Vinet. Eds., World Sci, 435-439 (1989), Adv. Math. 107, 365-392 (1994; Zbl 0812.17016)].
