Let \(G\) be a finite group, let \(p\) be a prime, and let \(B\) be a \(p\)-block of \(G\) with abelian defect group \(D\). Let \(Z\) be a central \(p\)-subgroup of \(G\), let \(\overline{B}\) be the unique \(p\)-block of \(G/Z\) contained in \(B\), and suppose that \(Z\) has a complement in \(D\). In this situation the author constructs a degree-preserving bijection between \(\text{Irr}(\overline{B})\) and \(\text{Irr}(B|\lambda)\), for any irreducible character \(\lambda\) of \(Z\). This character correspondence is then applied to blocks with abelian defect groups in twisted group algebras which contain a character of height zero.
