The author proves the conjecture formulated by \textit{D. Groisser} and \textit{T. Parker} [J. Diff. Geom. 29, No. 3, 499-544 (1989; Zbl 0679.53024)] and by \textit{S. K. Donaldson} [Lect. Notes Math. 1410, 145-160 (1989; Zbl 0705.53018)] about the finiteness of the volume and the diameter of the moduli space of irreducible \(g_0\)-anti-self-dual connections on a principal \(G\)bundle \(P\) over a \(C^\infty\) four-manifold \(M\) with a generic metric \(g_0\), endowed with the \(L^2\) metric \(g\) defined by \(g_0\). The result is established under the following hypotheses: The manifold \(M\) is closed, connected, oriented, simply connected and (i) \(G= \text{SU}(2)\) or \(G= \text{SO}(3)\) and the dimension of the maximal positive subspace of the intersection form of \(M\) is zero \((b^+(m)= 0)\) or (ii) \(G= \text{SO}(3)\) and the second Stiefel-Whitney class of \(P\) is not zero \((w_2(P)\neq 0)\).
