Let \(f\) be an analytic and univalent function on a simply connected domain \(D\) (which is not the whole plane \(\mathbb{C}\)), and let \(\lambda_D\) be the hyperbolic metric on \(D\). In this paper, the sharp estimate: \[ |f^{(n)}(w)/ f'(w)|\leq n! 4^{n-1} \lambda_D(w)^{n- 1},\quad w\in D, \] is proved. If, moreover, \(f\) is a convex univalent function, then we have \[ |f^{(n)}(w)/ f'(w)|\leq n! (\begin{smallmatrix} 2n-1\\ n\end{smallmatrix}) \lambda_D(w)^{n- 1},\quad w\in D. \] The first of these results has a close relationship with the Bieberbach hypothesis, the well-known result of L. de Branges and the following ``very old'' theorem concerning the well-known class \(S\): If \(f(z)= z+ a_2 z^2+\cdots\), \(|z|< 1\), \(f\in S\) and \(|a_k|\leq k\) for \(k= 2,\dots, n\), then, for all \(z\), \(|z|< 1\), \(|f^{(n)}(z)/ f'(z)|\leq (n+ 1)! 2^{n- 2}/(1- |z|^2)^{n- 1}\). This theorem was given by me in Commentationes Math. Warszawa 17, 65-69 (1973; Zbl 0265.30015) which is cited in the publication being reviewed. Unfortunately, at that time, I did not know that it is an old and somewhat forgotten result. For example, \textit{G. Schober} [Univalent functions. Selected topics (1975; Zbl 0306.30018), p. 179] cites the paper by \textit{E. Landau} [Jber-Dt. Math. Ver. 34, 239-243 (1925/26; JFM 52.0349.03)], \textit{P. Montel} [Leçons sur les fonctions univalentes ou multivalentes (1933; Zbl 0006.35102), p. 55] -- the paper by \textit{F. Marty} [C. R. Acad. Sci., Paris 194, 1308-1310 (1932; Zbl 0004.26102)]. The paper under review also includes some other properties of univalent functions.
