The Cauchy problem for the difference analogue of the KdV-type equation is a Cauchy problem for an infinite nonlinear system of ODE's. This nonlinear system defines a certain linear difference operator, say \(l\), and the spectral problem for the operator \(l\) is considered. The author shows, by construction, the existence and uniqueness of the spectral solution satisfying a certain additional initial condition. With the spectral functions of the operator \(l\), the so-called Weyl matrix is defined. It is shown that this matrix determines uniquely the operator \(l\), provided that certain matrices of moments are invertible. The proposed process of resolution of the original problem can be summarized as follows: (1) find the Weyl matrix via integration of certain evolution equations using moments and initial conditions given by initial conditions for the original system. (2) Solve the inverse problem for the Weyl matrix just found, in order to determine the linear operator \(l\). (3) Find the solution of the original problem (from the operator \(l\)). It seems that the author is interested only in the existence problem of the solution. There is no analysis of the computational features of the proposed algorithms (in fact there are two algorithms formulated in this paper).
