Asymptotic methods are used for the study of oscillatory properties of solutions of the differential equation \(y^{(n)}= p(x) y\), with \(p(x)\) a real analytic function at infinity. The differential equation is written as a system \(Y'= A(x)Y\) and by a block-diagonalization method it is shown that the system may be reduced to one standard system of dimension \(2\times 2\). Finally, a necessary and sufficient condition for various types of oscillation of a two-term differential equation near infinity is deduced.
