    Let \(R^*\) denote a null sequence \(\{c_n\}\) of complex numbers such that \(\sum^\infty_{k=1} |\Delta {(c_{-k}-c_k) \over k} |k\log k<\infty\) and \(\sum^\infty_{k=1} k^2|\Delta^2 \left({c_k\over k}\right) |<\infty\). Let \(E_n(t)= \sum^n_{k=0} e^{ikt}\), \(S_n (c,t) =\sum_{|k|\leq n} c_ke^{ikt}\) and \[ g_n(c,t)= S_n(c,t)+ {i\over n+1} \bigl[c_{n+1} E_n'(t)- c_{-(n+1)} E_{-n}'(t)\bigr]. \] If the trigonometric series \(\sum_{|n |\leq\infty} c_ne^{int}\) is a Fourier series of some function \(f\), we write \(c_n= \widehat f(n)\) and \(S_n(c,t) = S_n(f,t)\). The authors prove the following theorem concerning \(L^1\)-convergence of the modified complex trigonometric sum. Theorem: Let \(c_n\in R^*\), then there exists \(f(t)\) such that \[ \lim_{n\to\infty} g_n(c,t)= f(t) \text{ for all } 0<|t|\leq \pi, \tag{i} \] \[ f(t)\in L^1(T) \text{ and } |g_n(c,t) - f(t)|_1= o(1) \text{ as } n\to\infty, \tag{ii} \] \[ |S_n(f,t) - f(t)|_1= o(1),\;n\to\infty, \text{ iff } \widehat f(n) \log|n|= o(1) \text{ as } |n|\to\infty. \tag{iii.} \]
