Grid adjustment for parabolic systems based on a posteriori error estimates (Q1917872)

Parabolic systems with an elliptic operator represented by a general symmetric positive definite matrix are studied. The author formulates a simple parabolic model problem and proposes its discretization by the method of lines. Subsequently, the concept of error indicator and error estimator are introduced. A numerical experiment with grid adjustment is also presented.
