    The book presents the most important issues of practical analysis and synthesis of systems with structured uncertainties. The author starts with a number of real-world examples for which robustness is a main challenge in the control system design. All the examples are described by linear time-invariant models with uncertainty represented by a real uncertain parameter vector. The second part of the book is devoted to robustness analysis of systems described by linear models (in state or input-output form) with parametric uncertainties contained in prescribed sets. The authors present stability analysis based on Kharitonov-type criteria as well as other time-domain tools of robustness investigations. Although some frequency domain methods are also mentioned, the primary goal is formulated in terms of region of pole location. The next part of the book is devoted to other aspects of robust control system analysis and design. The results presented previously for system analysis are used to find parameters of the controllers assuring robustness including choice of sampled data controllers and the problem of simultaneous stabilisation. In contrast to the \(H_\infty\) approach, the controllers proposed in this part are low order regulators so that the algorithm is practical and its results are ready to use. In the last chapter, some tools for robust control system design are presented in some case studies including automatic steering of a bus and flight control.
