The quantum Calogero system is a many-body problem with pair interaction \[ H = - \sum^N \partial^2/ \partial x^2_i + k (k - 1) \sum^N_{i \neq j} (x_i - x_j)^2. \] The main statement of this short report is the following one: the operators \(I_{nm} = \sum^N_i x^m_i \nabla^n_i\), \(m,n \geq 0\), form the \((+,+)\) part of the \(W_{1 + \infty}\) algebra, \(x^m \partial^n \to I_{nm}\), \(m,n \geq 0\). As a consequence, we get one-half of the Virasoro algebra \(L_n = I_{1, n + 1}\) which acts by shifts on the higher Hamiltonians \(I_n\).
