Suppose \(D\) is a bounded domain in \(\mathbb{C}^n\), where \(n\geq 2\), whose automorphism group \((D)\) is noncompact. Then there exist \(p\in D\), \(q\in\partial D\) and a sequence \(\{F_i\}\) in \((D)\) with \(F_i(p)\to q\) as \(i\to\infty\). Such a point \(q\in\partial D\) is called a boundary accumulation point for \((D)\). It has been conjectured by \textit{R. E. Greene} and \textit{S. G. Krantz} [Proc. Mittag-Leffler Inst., 38, 389-410 (1993; Zbl 0779.32017)] that if \(D\) has smooth boundary, then all boundary accumulation points are of finite type. This conjecture has been studied for convex domains by \textit{K. T. Kim} [J. Math. Anal. Appl. 179, No. 2, 463-482 (1993; Zbl 0816.32015)]. In the present work the authors assume \(D\) is a Reinhardts domain and then show that \(D\) is a domain of the form \(\{|z^1|^2+P (|z^2|, \dots, |z^p|) <1\}\), where \(P\) is a nonnegative polynomial of a certain form and the complex variables \(z_1,\dots,z_n\) are divided into \(p\) nonempty groups \(z^1, \dots, z^p\). As a byproduct the authors also show that the set of boundary accumulation points is a manifold of odd dimension with the top dimension only occuring for the ball.
