Let \(\Omega\) be an open bounded subset of \(\mathbb{R}^n\) and \(h:\Omega \to \mathbb{R}\) be a measurable function. Set \(m_h(t) = |\{x\in \Omega: |h(x) |>t\}|\) and \(h^*(s) = \sup \{t>0: m_h(t)> s\}\). We recall that \(L\log L\) is the space of functions \(h\) such that \[ |h |_{L\log L} = \int^{|\Omega|}_0 h^*(t) \log \left({|\Omega|\over t} \right) dt=\int^{|\Omega|}_0 \overline h(s)ds < \infty, \] where \(\overline h\) is the average function of \(h^*\). The authors suppose \(n=2\) and consider the solution \(u\) of the elliptic equation: \[ -(a_{ij} u_{x_j})_{x_i} + cu=f\quad\text{ in } \Omega \] satisfying the homogeneous Dirichlet condition on the boundary \(\partial\Omega\); here \(a_{ij}\) are bounded functions and \(c(x) \geq 0\). They study regularity properties and, in particular, the continuity of \(u\) in the following cases: \(f\in L \log L,f\) is a Radon measure, \(f\) belongs to intermediate spaces between \(L^1 (\Omega)\) and \(L\log L\). Comparison with related known results and possible extensions to higher dimensions are discussed.
