The author gives a description of the structure of equivalential algebras. Irreducible elements are introduced and the class of irreducibly generated equivalential algebras is studied. The author introduces an equivalence relation on the set of all irreducible elements declaring elements with the same predecessors to be equivalent. Each equivalence class, supplemented with a unit element, forms a Boolean group. Then the notion of an equivalential frame is introduced. The author proves that there is a one-to-one correspondence between the class of all irreducibly generated equivalential algebras and the class of all equivalential frames. Some applications of this result are given: natural orders, congruences and homomorphic images of equivalential algebras are described.
