Several descriptions of the attainable sets for finite-dimensional continuous-time control systems are investigated. Using algebraic and topological methods, asymptotic properties of the attainable sets under nonlinear perturbations are considered. Many special cases are also discussed. The relations between different properties of the attainable sets are explained. Moreover, several remarks and comments on the attainable sets for finite-dimensional control systems are presented. Similar problems but for infinite-dimensional attainable sets have been considered earlier [\textit{T. I. Seidman}, ``Invariance of the reachable set under nonlinear perturbations'', SIAM J. Control Optimization 25, 1173-1991 (1987; Zbl 0626.49018), and ``Time-invariance of the reachable set for linear control problems'', J. Math. Anal. Appl. 72, 17-20 (1979; Zbl 0419.93044)].
