A theory for small deformation analysis of growing bodies with an application to the winding of magnetic tape packs (Q1921995)

The authors deal with infinitesimal deformations of growing boundary of bodies in some special cases, e.g. in the case of solidifying or melting bodies. To avoid the incompatibility of strains, a strain rate formulation is introduced together with a hypoelastic constitutive model. The results are applied to axially symmetric winding process of magnetic tape packs. Numerical results obtained by the FEM for two examples are plotted into diagrams.
