The author considers a standard Borel structure on the set of all equivalent norms of a separable Banach space through the Effros-Borel structure of the closed subsets of these spaces. The main result of the paper is the following. Theorem B. Let \(Y\) be an infinite-dimensional Banach space with a basis, and \(A\) is an analytic set of equivalent norms on \(Y\), including all the uniformly rotund in every direction (URED) norms. Then \(A\) contains a norm which is not rotund. Corollary 9. Let \(Y\) be an infinite-dimensional Banach space with a basis. The set of all rotund equivalent norms, and the set of all URED norms on \(Y\) are coanalytic but not Borel sets. Problem. Let \(Y\) be an infinite-dimensional separable Banach space; if an analytic set of equivalent norms contains the norms which are at the same time URED and LUR, does it contain a non-rotund norm?
