Let \((c_{jk})\) be a double sequence of real numbers such that \(c_{jk}\to0\) as \(\max(j,k)\to\infty\) and \(\sum^\infty_{j=0} \sum^\infty_{k=0} |\Delta_{11}c_{ij}|<\infty\), where \(\Delta_{11}c_{jk}:=c_{jk}-c_{j+1,k}-c_{j,k+1}+c_{j+1,k+1}\). Then the double Walsh series \(\sum_j\sum_k c_{jk}w_j(x)w_k(y)\) converges pointwise to a finite limit \(f(x,y)\) for all \(0<x\), \(y<1\). The main goal of the paper under review is to prove the validity of the generalized Parseval's formula \[ \lim_{\varepsilon,\delta\downarrow 0} \int^1_\delta\int^1_\varepsilon f(x,y)\phi(x,y)dx dy=\sum_j \sum_kc_{jk}\widehat\phi^*(j,k), \] where \(\phi\) belongs to a certain class of measurable functions defined on \(I^2:0\leq x\), \(y<1\), and \[ \widehat\phi^*(j,k):= \lim_{\varepsilon,\delta\downarrow 0} \int^1_\delta\int^1_\varepsilon \phi(x,y)w_j(x)w_k(y)dx dy. \] The cases where \(\phi(x,y)/x\) or \(\phi(x,y)/y\) or \(\phi(x,y)/xy\in L^p(I^2)\) for some \(1\leq p\leq\infty\) are treated in detail.
